[-Chapter 2-]

Kailyn's POV

I shake my head, trying to rattle the events that just occurred from my thoughts. Why were they looking at me? I'm sure they all have their fair share of women to chose from, so I don't know why they were so infatuated with me, I'm so simple compared to what they normally go after. I stand waiting for the elevator door at the library to open, trying to get the way they all had the same equally ridiculous grin on their face out of my mind. A girl comes and stands next to me, obviously needing to use the elevator as well. The door opens an we both climb in. She presses the 3 button for the third floor and then gives me a questioning gaze, wondering what floor I'm going to as well.

"Same one," I answer with a smile. She nods her head in recognition and then takes a step back, her arms automatically coiling around the large books in her hand. I know exactly who she is, but I also can't believe this is happening to me again. As if I hadn't been around enough people associated with the penguins today... I shake my head in disbelief before the elevator starts to shake slightly before coming to a stop. She sighs as if she can't believe this is happening either before pressing the button that is suppose to open the door, only to find its not working. We both wait, hoping maybe the door will open, but instead the numbers that once lit up now become dull until they completely fade out.

"Yeah this is not good," she says with a smile.

"Definitely not. This is horrible timing," I sigh while shaking my head.

"Law student?" she asks while pointing to my books before she takes a seat on the floor of the elevator.

"Yeah. Sports and Entertainment specifically," I answer while following her lead and sitting down on the opposite side of the elevator. "Should we call someone about this or something?" I question, pointing to the elevator door that has still yet to open.

"It happens all the time. They will probably have it fixed in 2 hours in the shortest amount of time, maybe more," she starts with a shrug. "I would take the stairs, but that kind of upward movement is still kind of rough on my knee," she concludes while opening one of the books she has situated on her lap.

"Yeah, I heard about that. Sorry, I know it had to be rough sitting out your first year," I offer, making her look up from her book and kind of cock her head to the side. "Sports freak," I smile while pointing up toward my face with a smile. "I know you were suppose to play ball at Pitt. Its a shame, their basketball team could have used you this year. Oh, you're an excellent pitcher to. Jenny who..?" I laugh, having no doubt that one day she could be just as good as Jenny Finch.

"Thanks," she says while I open one of my books as well. If I'm going to be stuck here this long, I can't really afford to lose any study time.

"I'm Kailyn by the way," I conclude while reaching across the elevator, holding out my hand. She does the same, shaking it in a friendly manner.

"Ty. But I guess you already know that," she says with a laugh. "So were you coming here to study or research something?"

"Just study, so it's not that big of a deal that we are stuck I guess. I normally study at his coffee shop close around here, but it was a little crowded today. Some of the people there were a little wild," I laugh, knowing she probably knows that better than anybody.

Kris's POV

After the game, I take my time leaving like I normally do. It's nothing strange to be one of the last ones out of the locker room. Well, besides Sid. Poor guy, it always seems like he has a microphone shoved in his face. I'm gathering up my stuff to leave when my phone goes off, signaling I just got a text message.

'We are at the coffee shop. You'd probably like the scenery. You coming?'

I shake my head, praying they aren't tormenting her or being overly friendly like I can only imagine..

I get out of my car and start to walk across the street. The coffee shop is pretty crowded, but I can see them perfectly, all crowding around her table. I walk through the door and the first thing I do is check her face for any kind of anger. Thankfully, all I see is what looks like the slightest amount of amusement.

"It's about time you got here," Colby says while handing me my usual drink. I look at the table, and can't believe them. Naturally, they would make me sit in the seat right across from her. "This is Kris," he says to her, almost as if they had been friends for years. Sometimes I wonder if they ever get the impression that they are a little overbearing, yet some how I doubt it.

"I know who he is," she says with a smile. I'm a little shocked as I can't help but pick up on her accent. I'm almost positive it's French Canadian. It's very subtle, but I can still catch a hint of it. Perk # 1.

Obviously, Max doesn't pick up on her accent as he rumbles something French off to Marc.

(I might have to take this one off Kris's hands. She has a killer body..)
"Je devrais prendre celui-ci des mains de Kris. Elle a un corps de tueur," he says, throwing a smirk my way. Marc chuckles, but I can only glare in response. I can hear the door opening, and I turn my head quickly to see Geno and Ty making their way back toward us before I turn my attention back to her.

(Why thank you. What makes you think I would be interested in you anyways? You're are quite sure of yourself..)
"Pourquoi merci," she answers, catching him off guard. She speaks French.. Perk # 2. "Ce qui vous fait penser je m'intéresserais à vous anyways ? Vous êtes sont tout à fait sûrs de vous.." she finishes, and now its my turn to laugh. She has a sense of humor, definitely feisty.. Perk # 3.

"What's so funny?" Geno asks while pulling up and chair for Ty and then one for himself.

"Somebody actually put Max in his place," I laugh, my eyes locking with hers again.

"Well it's about time," Ty says while taking her coat off.

"Oh, Ty this is---"

"Kailyn," she interrupts Jordan. "Yes I know. Nice to see you again," she adds with a smile.

"You guys know each other?" Geno asks with a questioning gaze toward Ty.

"We got stuck in an elevator today at the library together for about 3 hours," Kailyn says, explaining their acquaintance. "So yes, we know each other rather well."

"Well good. We are all going to hang out tonight at Kris's place, you should come." Max offers, looking straight at Kailyn. She gets a deer in headlights look, which is absolutely adorable. Her phone rings, the chorus of 100 in a 55 saving her for the time being. Her ringtone is Saving Abel, that must mean she's a rock girl.. Perk #4. She excuses herself before getting up to take the call.

Kailyn's POV

I can only be thankful that my phone rings. I see that it's Rylie and I can't help but get excited, I haven't talked to her in forever.

'You are never going to believe this..' I start out, getting right to the point of things.

'What?' she asks, obviously interested.

'So, I'm sitting at the same coffee shop I always study at, and the next thing I know, I'm surrounded by a table full of Penguins.'

'I would believe that. You have excellent luck,' she laughs.

'I think its more of a game to them than anything. I think they just like giving the quiet one a hard time. They are actually taking it far enough to invite me to hang out tonight. Poor guy...'

'Are you going?!' she shrieks. I can see it now, she's probably bouncing all over the place in excitement.

'I was actually thinking you could help me come up with a good excuse..?'

'Oh come on, how many times could you have a chance to hang out WITH THE EFFING PENGUINS. So they are just messing around.. embrace it. Have fun with it. GO.' Leave it to Rylie to only think about having a good time...

'I guess I'll consider it. I miss having you around Ry.. it would have been more fun tonight with you there with me.'

'Yeah I wish you could have at least came home for Christmas. Check your mail, I sent you a present. And furthermore, you're the one that had to go be all smart away at college, not being satisfied with one of the ones in Canada at least.. so technically it's your fault you are so far away. Oh, and thanks for rubbing tonight in. Now go, have a good time. I'll talk to you later.'

'Alright, bye Ry.'

I turn back around to see that they are all up standing by the door, obviously waiting for my decision. As if Ty can pick up on how uneasy I am about all of this, she speaks up.

"Come on, you'll be fine. It will be fun," she offers with a smile, making me give in and follow them out the door.

The evening passed, and it was surprisingly much more enjoyable than I had thought possible. I knew these guys were goofs.. but I actually enjoyed listening to their stories. They were characters to say the least. What surprised me even more was the fact that I couldn't seem to take my eyes off Kris. Throughout the night, he managed to keep a distance, chatting off quietly to the side with other teammates. As if on cue, I see him make his way to the sliding glass door and head outside. I grab two beers, waiting a couple of seconds until following.

I open the door to find him sitting in a lawn chair, back facing me so he can gaze out at the town of Pittsburgh. I pull a chair up next to him, but he still doesn't take his gaze off the town. I push a beer his way, and he takes it, smiling at me before taking the first sip. We sit in silence for a little while until he finally speaks up.

"So how bad did they attack you at the coffee shop?" he asks with a small chuckle, obviously prepared for anything.

"It was quite a surprise," I say, a smile crosses my face as he looks at me for the first time. It's no surprise though, its hard not to smile when I looked at him. He definitely was handsome... I can feel my cheeks getting hot, and I know that I'm blushing so I start talking again. "They are pretty wild to say the least," I laugh.

"I'm sorry. They're good guys, they just don't understand boundaries to well."

"Obviously," I answer, just in time to hear the sliding door open again. I turn to look, but not quick enough as I see a group of guys go flashing past me straight toward the pool. They jump in, making water splash everywhere, including all over the both of us.

"They don't understand them well..? Yeah that's definitely an understatement," I laugh while his gaze once again catches mine.
