[-Chapter 5-]

Sorry for the long wait, but I had an extreme case of writers block, and well I got caught up in my Max story a little, accidentally neglecting this one. :-S And whoo, going back to the Stanley Cup Finals. Bring it, Detroit. :-)

Kailyn's POV

I wake up the next morning and hurry to school to take my test, which I probably finished faster than I should have, but I can't help but be excited. I rush back to my dorm room and I know that I have time to waste so I jump in the shower before having to go to the airport.

As I'm rinsing the conditioner out of my hair, it dawns on me that I'm already falling for him, and he hasn't even laid a finger on me except for possibly on one occasion, which was probably an accident. Of this I can only be thankful, because even though I've always felt at ease around him, I am definitely not skilled in the guy department. Going through high school, I was far to concerned with my grades to even worry or think about guys. As other girls were learning the temptress role and learning to manipulate guys into doing whatever they wanted them to, I was the nerdy girl locked in my room, or library which seems more fit, studying away. In fact, the only guy I've probably ever came into contact with and actually have a relationship with would be my brother, and well even though my brother and I are extremely close, I don't really think that counts for anything in this situation. I let all the doubts I have disappear from my mind, allowing a smile to cross my face as I get out of the shower and quickly get dressed, grabbing my bags and heading outside to grab a cab, eagerness probably showing in all of my emotions.

I arrive at the airport and board my plane, plugging my iPod in and almost instantly falling asleep, making up for my sleepless previous night. After the plane lands, I head to my hotel and check in, finding that I have my own room, which I can only be thankful for. My sleeping arrangement was one of the only concerns I had when I agreed to come, but I should have known that I had nothing to worry about. I should have figured that Kris would have thought everything through..

After getting settled, I see that its a little after 5 so I head to the arena and follow the directions he gave me that lead me down toward the locker rooms. I walk around a corner, skeptical of where to go from now until I see a familiar face.

"Hey Kailyn," Ty greets as a smile crosses her face, the same look I've been getting from a lot of people here recently.

Kris's POV

I sit, lacing up my skates before the game, fidgeting more than normal. My nerves probably have to do with the fact that Kailyn is coming to a game for the first time. I make my way out onto the ice almost in a complete daze, which is probably why Max catches me off guard when he comes up behind me as we step out onto the ice for pre-game.

"Hey man, you alright?" he asks while hitting my arm to get my attention. "You look like you're in deep thought about something." It's then that I spot her, making her way down the isle with Jodi behind her toward their seats right behind our bench, and I know I have a ridiculously big smile on my face. "Oh," Max continues while shaking his head after catching onto what I was starring at before skating away with a laugh.

After they get seated, she finally looks down at me, and I can't decide if she's happy to see me or just happy to be here, but nevertheless she has a huge smile on her face as she waves down at me, catching the attention of the guy next to her. I see the way his eyes roam over her, even though she is oblivious to it all, and it makes my blood broil. She pays him no attention though and continues to smile down at me, so I nod my head slightly before skating around, trying to concentrate on the game.

The whole game, things were close and intense. As the buzzer went off, signaling there was going to be a shoot out, I went into a daze like I normally do, waiting for coach to say who would be shooting. After finding out I would be third, I automatically start thinking through what move I was going to do, not really paying attention to anybody else as they take their turn at the opposing goalie.

Soon enough it was my turn. I push the puck forward with the blade of my skate before starting the game of cat and mouse between the goalie and the shooter that always takes place during shoot outs. I change my direction, waiting for him to react, and as soon as I have him leaning one way, I switch over to my backhand, the puck finding the back of the net.

Kailyn's POV

I wait anxiously, not being able to sit still during the shoot out when I see him step out on the ice as the last shooter. As he makes his way toward the goal, flipping the puck into the back of the net with ease, I let out a breath I hadn't even known I was holding, turning to Jodi and jumping in excitement. Jodi leads me through all the equally excited fans and down toward the locker room, which seemed like it took forever to reach.

As I follow her into the room, I can't help but smile as he looks over at me.

"Nice goal," I say while jumping into his arms, giving him the tightest of bear hugs which causes him to laugh.

"Thanks," he chuckles while sitting me back down on my feet, tucking my hair back out of my face. "I have to do interviews real quick and then shower, then we can get out of here and go eat or something."

"Okay," I answer quietly before making my way back over to where Ty has joined Jodi, both of them having an amused smile on their faces.

"What?" I ask defensively, but not being able to keep a straight face.

"Nothing," they both chime at the same time before shaking their heads. We wait patiently for the guys to get finished up before heading out to eat and then heading back to the hotel.

"I had a nice time," I say while turning to Kris before grabbing for the key to my room.

"I can tell," he said while laughing. "You haven't stopped smiling all night," he continues while I open the room to my door, only to see that the water system has been turned on, which I have no idea why, because there is no fire of any kind. I look at all my clothing that is now drenched before looking back at him, but he just has this huge smile on his face.

"This," I start while hitting him playfully, "is not funny." He only continues to laugh while we both stand in my room and continue to get wet. "What the hell is it with us and water!" I yell before shrugging my shoulders and shaking my head.

"Well, looks like you'll have to stay with me now anyways." I turn around to see that he now has a mischievous smile on his face, and I can't decide if that's a good thing or not as I nod my head in agreement.
